Article (15): Contracting for the University approved jobs shall be as per the recruitment plans, the benefits of which are already approved within the University estimated budget. Suitable salary, transportation and other allowances for each Job shall be fixed on the basis of the approved salary scale (P. 8).

Labor policies and regulations: PSU operates under the labor law of Saudi Arabia promulgated by Royal Decree No. M/51 dated 23/8/1426 A.H ( P. 4).

Article (3): The provisions of this Policy and other rules complementary thereto shall apply to all Employees, other than faculty members, working at the University on full time basis unless special provision is provided For in respect thereof in the Employment Contract (P.5).

Article (113): Temporary employee shall receive a remuneration corresponding to his qualifications, experiences, and the nature of the tasks, in addition to the travel expenses from place of residence to the work place and back (P. 32).

Article (114): The contract with the temporary employee shall specify the other benefits provided to the employee such as medical treatment and leaves (P. 32).

At employment time, the faculty member shall be granted 2% of the abovementioned basic salary as experience allowance for each year of his/her previous years of experience outside the university and in a maximum of ten years for the last academic degree (P. 33).

Prior contract signing, the employee can appeal with a letter to the president though the human resources personnel their desires in terms of payment. After the President’s decision, the contract would be signed by both stakeholders.

Article (31): After the approval of the department, the Rector may raise the basic salary in the salary structure up to 100% according to the following standards of excellence, noting that any raise that exceeds this must be approved by the Board of Trustees.

Evidence: An example of salary increase based on the university ranking and an example of the letter to the Rector requesting the increase of salary, which applies to Saudis and non-Saudis and from both genders. The faculty member can appeal by writing a letter to the Rector explaining their reasons for deserving a salary increase, and this process is usually conducted before signing the contract or renewing it.
